Scope and Contents

There are four reports in this collection. The first report – "Comprehensive Plan for the North Lakeview section of the Uptown Model Area" is in three volumes and was submitted to the Department of Public Works, City of Chicago by Students in Design and Development Center, Northwestern April 9, 1971.

The report is lengthy, totaling 542 pages of text in three volumes. Volume I provides a community profile and discusses planning studies. Volume II discusses funding for the research and planning and Volume III discusses results and development proposals.

The second report – “Comprehensive Urban Health Systems design, Vol I and II" discusses urban health system from the design stage to research and evaluation, looking at heath care delivery from the point of view of the different professional groups involved.

The third report discusses problems of pollution associated with sold waste and land fills which are below the water table.

Report four concerns finding alternative inputs for hospital support functions. It discusses various ways in which hospital systems procure supplies and materials necessary for delivering service to “health consumers.” This report was generated for Citizens Health Organization, a group based in urban Chicago which was interested in promoting health care reform.
