From the Collection:

Collection contains administrative files, correspondence papers, syllabus materials, working papers, and bibliographies used to develop the African Curriculum Project. Also included is correspondence (1966-1967) around the newly formed Committee on Undergraduate and High School Education in African Studies (CUHSEA) of the African Studies Association (ASA), which Edward Soja was a member of. Soja also corresponded with Ward Morehouse, Director of the Center for International Programs and Services of the New York State Education Department, Foreign Area Materials Center, who was overseeing a similar U.S. Office of Education sponsored project, Strengthening Bibliographical Resources for Undergraduate Libraries on “Neglected” Foreign Areas : a three-year cooperative project involving college librarians and scholars in foreign area studies. The collection also includes issues of and manuscripts for African Urban Notes, which Soja was an editor for in 1967.
