The Edward Tunnicliff Collection is comprised of a scrapbook and two artifacts.

The scrapbook contains fifty-two pages of materials relating to Tunnicliff’s football career at Northwestern, ranging from recruitment correspondence from 1944 and 1946 to newspaper clippings of Northwestern’s 1949 Rose Bowl victory. The majority of the clippings are accompanied by pictures of Tunnicliff or the Northwestern team as a whole. Many of the pictures have handwritten captions identifying the people or locations depicted in the photographs. One page contains a small lump taped to the paper, labeled “a piece of Rose Bowl turf.” There are also a few loose miscellaneous pictures and clippings tucked into the back of the scrapbook.

The mini-helmet is a quarter-size replica of a black and silver Northwestern football helmet signed by Edwards Tunnicliff. The back of the helmet features a decal from the 2013 TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl game in which Northwestern defeated Mississippi State (21-20). Tunnicliff’s signature on the helmet is especially meaningful because the 2013 Gator Bowl marked Northwestern’s first bowl game victory since the 1949 Rose Bowl in which Tunnicliff played.

The football jersey (#15) that Tunnicliff wore during the Rose Bowl game is boxed and stored separately.
