This collection contains Paul Tangora’s uniform from the College All-Star team, produced by Spalding, the athletic apparel and equipment manufacturer, for the September 1, 1936 game matching the best collegiate players against the Detroit Lions and the September 9, 1936 game matching the collegians against the New York Giants. The uniform is bright gold and trimmed with red, white, and blue stripes and features red numerals with blue details. Tangora’s uniform includes a jersey numbered 47, pants (size 34 and incorporating a leather belt), two stirrup-style socks, and three elbow or knee pads. Also included is a Spalding leather football helmet (size 7-1/8), painted gold with red and blue stripes.
