Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The records of the Northwestern University Medical School Curriculum Committee fill six boxes and span the years from 1939 through 1980. The final box is comprised of an addition, described within the container list itself.

The records dating from 1939 through 1959, which are arranged chronologically, are quite brief. They include letters of appointment of members to the committee, correspondence between members of the committee, proposed yearly schedules for Medical School classes, and reports of several subcommittees.

The records dating from 1965 through 1980 are much more detailed. Commonly found here are minutes of Curriculum Committee meetings and correspondence and reports of Committee task forces and subcommittees. Topics and events typically covered by these records include course schedules and student clinical experiences.

The records are arranged first according to a rough chronology. Folders dating between 1965 and 1980 are further arranged by format of material (i.e. minutes, reports, etc) or by topical headings, such as the names of Medical School academic departments.
