The Agnes Nixon Papers fills 36 boxes and spans the years 1941-2013.

The biographical material section contains various papers dating from the period 1942-2010. This section encompasses both the personal and professional life of Agnes Nixon, including class notes from her studies at Northwestern University, contact lists from various television endeavors, and a large collection of New Yorker covers.

The correspondence section includes letters from various cast and crew members of All My Children, as well as family and Nixon's close friend Warren Buffett. Nixon had organized folders of personal correspondence from the years 1985-1991, and her organization was kept intact.

Press clippings/advertisements span the years 1948-2013, and encompass a variety of forms, including newspaper, magazines, and Internet articles. There is a great deal of material from the years 2011-2013, when All My Children and One Life to Live were ending their television runs and making the switch to online streaming, as this had never been done before in the soap opera world.

Agnes Nixon has received numerous awards throughout her career. These include various Daytime Emmy award certificates, a Giants of Broadcasting award, as well as an invitation to the presentation of the 2013 Agnes Nixon Playwriting Award at Northwestern University and the 2014 Northwestern University Alumni Merit Award.

In the Photographs section are a great deal of All My Children photographs, both of individual cast members and of larger anniversary celebrations.  Additionally, this section contains numerous photographs of Nixon's family as well as photographs from the professional life of her husband, Robert Nixon's .

The written work section is the largest of the collection and contains a wide variety of Nixon's professional writings, spanning the years from 1941 to 2012. This section contains work from Nixon's years at Northwestern, including the radio play "No Flags Flying," as well as from her time adapting novels for NBC University Theatre.  Additionally, there are a great deal of All My Children and Loving story projections, as well as numerous undated pieces.

The artifacts/oversized items from this collection are contained in nonstandard sized boxes.  These include a number of scrapbooks from Nixon's career, as well as an All My Children board game and several glass paperweights from the All My Children finale in 2011.

The audiovisual materials consist largely of VHS tapes, with a number of CDs and DVDs as well. Content includes documentaries, tributes, and interviews with Nixon, as well as clips or episodes of productions.
