Scarsdale Youth Relations Committee: Clippings, 1963 - 1965

The Stanley Frankel Papers fill seventeen boxes and span the years 1916 to 1999; the bulk of the papers date between 1940 and 1999. The papers consist mostly of correspondence and news clippings pertaining to his political contacts and the companies for which he worked.

Biographical files include personal information and news articles about Frankel (Box 1, Folders 1-2) and his extended family (Box 1, Folder 3-4). They also include information about his Northwestern alumni activities (Box 1, Folder 5) and materials from his combat experience in World War II (Box 1, Folder 6). Items within each file are arranged chronologically.

Many of the letters in the correspondence series feature written conversations between Frankel and prominent political figures. As a result, there are personally signed letters from prominent individuals such as Adlai Stevenson (Box 5, Folder 3), George McGovern (Box 3, Folder 2), Hubert Humphrey (Box 2, Folder 3), Newton Minow (Box 3, Folder 5), Sargent Shriver (Box 5, Folder 2) and Walter Mondale (Box 4, Folder 5). Also included in this subseries are news clippings, campaign materials and speeches pertaining to the politicians for whom Frankel wrote and campaigned. Items within each file are arranged chronologically.

The organizations series contains mainly correspondence and clippings relating to Frankel's business affiliations, including the Ogden Corporation, the Public Relations Board and Dayco Corporation. It also includes materials used in teaching his management course at Baruch College, (Box 5, Folder 10) along with teacher and course evaluations (Box 6, Folder 2). A large section of this subseries also contains materials from various other organizations and task forces, like the Democratic Party, of particular interest are documents relating to the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy (Box 7, Folder 5), the Peace Corps and task forces for the governor and lieutenant governor of New York, as well as Vice President Mondale.

The books and publications series contains copies of various articles written by Frankel during World War II (Box 17, Folder 4) and while at Esquire and Coronet. It also contains opinion pieces written by Frankel, including "In Defense of Patriotism" (Box 16, Folder 9) and his "Frankel-y Speaking" columns (Box 16, Folders 4-6). It also contains outlines and news clippings about his books, including History of the 37th Infantry Division (Box 16, Folder 8) and a fragmentary draft of Frankel-y Speaking About World War II In The South Pacific (Box 16, Folder 7).
