Scope and Contents

Most of the materials is related to a cruise onboard the S.S. "Reliance" of the Hamburg-Amerike Linie. Folder includes assorted tourist brochures and leaflets, and:

  • Menus (1930-04-06; farewell dinner, 1930-04-09, signed by passengers)
  • Photograph of passengers in pirate costume
  • Telegrams to Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Wilson (1930-03-25 and 1930-03-26)
  • List of gratuities (?) paid to ship's personnel
  • Program for the opening of Arthur Hammerstein's theater (1927-11-30; now called the Ed Sullivan Theater), with ticket stubs)
  • Certificate of membership in the Order of Pleasure Pirates (1930-03-28; designed by Claude E. Millard)
  • Caribbean comments (newspaper published aboard the "Reliance" (1930-03-26 to 1930-04-09)
