This series, filling nine and one-half boxes, contains English department faculty personnel records dating from 1934 through 1981. Tenured and non-tenured faculty, visiting professors and part-time instructors are represented. Typically found within folders are: copies of letters of appointment; salary notifications; some teaching and curricular materials; letters of recommendation; placement materials; and correspondence pertaining to leaves of absence, sabbaticals, grants, research, teaching, and related matters. A few folders of appointment notifications for part-time instructors and lecturers of introductory courses are arranged at the front of the series.

Addition, Boxes 11-15 This addition, filling four and one-half boxes, is comprised of English department faculty personnel records dating from about 1964 through 1983. The records are arranged in folders for individual members of the faculty. The files are alphabetized by faculty members' surnames. Tenured and non-tenured faculty, as well as visiting professors and part-time faculty are represented. Generally found within the folders are: letters of appointment, salary notifications, some teaching materials, recommendations, and correspondence.
