From the Collection:

The Northwestern Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Collection includes both records of the school's official teams and non-team materials such as coaching plaques and relating to women's involvement before the women's team began in 1973. Materials include plaques, All-American certificates, academic certificates, correspondence, photographs, record logs, promotional material, and scrapbooks. Awards include plaques from the Windy City Swimming and Diving Invitational, Most Improved and Most Valuable Swimmer, and several individual awards. Programs date back to meets from 1911.

Noteworthy individuals represented in the collection include Tom Anderson, Kim Tesch, and Olympic gold medalists Sybil Bauer and Ralph Breyer. Coach Anderson was a longtime swimming coach at Northwestern. The collection contains his certificate inducting him to the Swimming Hall of Fame and a plaque commemorating 25 years of coaching. Tesch was an award-winning swimmer. The collection contains press releases and correspondence centering around her swimming career. A plaque commemorates Sybil Bauer, and the collection contains a large color photograph of Ralph Breyer.
