Course Proposals, 1984 - 1987

The Records of the Ph.D in Theatre and Drama program span the period 1983 - 1988 and fill one and one half boxes. The records are arranged in seven categories: correspondence, executive committee, faculty, financial records, program development (the largest occupying eleven folders), special events, and students.

The correspondence deals with the establishing of the new program and its major problems and needs.

The executive committee folder contains correspondence and meeting agendas, notes, and reports.

The faculty section, primarily correspondence and notes, concerns the appointment of the core teachers in the program and those from other departments not closely involved.

The financial records consist of budget estimates and statements, memos and letters on related matters, and a copy of the rejected FIPSE proposal.

The program development category contains a variety of correspondence, memos, drafts of statements, notes, and lists. Of special interest is the folder on planning (Box 1, Folder 18).

The special events section includes mostly correspondence arranging for visits by scholars and performers in the two fields.

The students category consists mainly of correspondence, requests from potential students for information and the program's responses.
