Tables1 A, B, C, D, III, 1959 - 1960

These records contain statistical information on College course offerings and course registrations. The Quarterly Reports and Tables are organized by academic quarter and bound in thirteen yearly volumes and two over-sized ledger books and contained in one box.

The Quarterly Reports consist of tables listing courses offered by each department of the College. For each course the Reports note: instructor, numbers of undergraduate and graduate registrants, registration by sex and undergraduate and graduate hour credits awarded per course. The Reports also summarize registrations and credits awarded per course by departments. Quarterly Reports not included in the bound volumes for the years 1956/1957 to 1960/1961 are contained in the two ledgers. The ledgers contain the same basic information as the bound volumes but in a slightly different format. Quarterly Class Load Summaries replace Quarterly Reports beginning in 1958/1959 but provide the same categories of statistics. The ledgers contain quarterly statistics from 1956/1957 to 1964/1965 although no Summer Quarter statistics are included after 1961/1962.

Combinations of seven different Tables are bound with the Quarterly Reports. Tables A and B, which are included in all the volumes, summarize student registration by departments and types of courses; Table A summarizes registration for lecture classes while Table B summarizes registration for drill, quiz and discussion sections that met once a week. Tables C and D appear in all volumes beginning with 1954/1955. Table C indicates enrollment by course in independent study, undergraduate seminar and research courses; Table D Indicates sizes of classes or seminars by department in D-level and E-level courses. Table I summarizes the number of registrants and teaching credit-hours (units of teaching credits multiplied by the number of registrants) by classes and class sections for each course offered in each department. Table II summarizes the total number of classes and class sections maintained, the total number of registrations and teaching credit-hours, and the average sizes of classes in each department. Tables I and II are included in the bound volumes from 1948/1949 to 1953/1954, although beginning in 1950/1951 Table I was abbreviated to include only a departmental summary of the total number of teaching credit-hours. Table III, which is included in all the bound volumes (1948/1949 to 1960/1961), summarizes average instruction time per week given by instructors according to department and includes departmental averages.

The boxed records include Tables I, II and III for Winter and Spring Quarters, 1947/1948; Tables A, B, C, D and III for Fall, Winter and Spring Quarters of 1961/1962; and Tables A, B, C and III for Fall Quarter, 1964/1965.
