University Theatre/Theatre and Interpretation Center/Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts Programs and Schedules

The University Theatre Program collection consists of newspaper clippings, press releases, ticket stubs, flyers, schedules, and programs for productions by Northwestern University, at its Theatre and Interpretation Center, or at the Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts.

The General section contains newspaper clippings, press releases, old ticket stubs, and flyers. The clippings (1938-2006) are all taken from the Daily Northwestern. They contain articles showcasing and critiquing theatre productions. The press releases (1962-1992) announce upcoming productions and shows. A few of the press releases are not dated. Most of the flyers also advertise upcoming shows and events.

There are two different formats of schedules. The first is consists of paper, pamphlet style schedules, and dates from 1930 to 2014. The second consists of card schedules, dating from 1933 to 1970. Both formats contain a listing of productions and dates from their corresponding season year. Some years of schedules are missing.

Lists of University Theatre productions document the dates, directors, and titles of shows from 1928 to 2006.

Two bound volumes contain programs for University Theatre productions dating between 1937 and 1954 (production numbers 105 to 299). These volumes are accompanied by a folder of program inserts.

Additional and duplicate unbound programs of productions put on by the University Theatre as well as the University Theatre and Interpretation Center fill boxes 2 through 4. Dating from 1925 to 2015, the programs are ordered chronologically as well as by their corresponding production number (the numbering system ended in 1990). Not all of the programs are present in the collection.

In addition to the University Theatre productions, the collection also includes programs for productions that were not part of the main theatre season but were produced at the new Theatre and Interpretation Center. These programs date from 1984 to 2013.

Another set of material in the collection documents the annual Summer Drama Festival with clippings, press releases, flyers, schedules, and programs.

The General section contains a folder of programs from the Agnes Nixon Playwriting festival, dating between 1991 and 2011 (some are missing); and a folder (containing an invitation as well as a booklet program) concerning the March 13th, 1993, Love Letters Gala performance that benefited the Theatre and Interpretation Center.
