 Collection
Identifier: 26/4

  • Staff Only
  • No requestable containers

Scope and Contents

Matriculation cards were filled out by entering students (freshmen or transfers) and deposited with the Office of the Registrar. These 3x5 cards, filling 129 card-file boxes, date between 1913 and 1970, although there are not many from 1970. Most of the cards were completed by WCAS students, although some were filled out by entering or transferring students from the Graduate School, School of Education, and other Evanston Campus schools. There are no cards for students entering the Medical, Law, or Dental schools.

Information on the cards includes name, home address, school entering, date, and the student’s signature. Cards from earlier years include an agreement to refrain from hazing, which the student was required to sign. Because of the small amount of information contained on the cards, they are of limited use, but still can provide basic details about entering students.
