The Records of the Africana Library (chiefly correspondence) are arranged in alphabetical order. Files span the years from 1947 through 2000.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Records of the Africana Library were donated to the Northwestern University Archives between July 1984 and December 1991 (Acc. # 84-125, 84-149, 88-188, 91-216). Twenty additional boxes (accession 14-132) were incorporated into the collection 2022-05-16.

Original processing by Asher Miller, Janet Olson, Rachel Polatick, and Yvonne Spura, August 2010. Addition incorporated by Gary L. Strawn, 2022-05-16, accomanied by substantial reorganization. Further reorganization is possible, pending inspection of the materials.
