Collection contains 71 glass slides mainly depicting mining areas and locations visited or surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey during the early twentieth century. Locations include various regions of the United States and other countries.

Glass slides are arranged alphabetically by location of image.

Collection was transferred by Russell Maylone of Northwestern University Library Special Collections on July 21, 1986.
