Records of the Mee-Ow Show
Scope and Contents
The records of the Mee-ow show fill four boxes, including one drop-front box. The records span the years 1974-2004. A significant portion of the material is from the first show in 1974.
The material begins with a few topical folders in alphabetical order that span the show's entire history. These are followed by a group of folders relating to the 1974 show, arranged alphabetically by topic. The remaining folders are arranged chronologically by performance year, with one folder for undated material. Dates on the folders relate to performance years, not necessarily the span dates of the records. The drop-front box contains posters from various Mee-ow shows between the years 1974-2004.
The records contain a wide variety of material, including scripts, programs, audition flyers and forms, budget information, clippings and cast information. Particularly interesting are the array of documents concerning the budget controversy and other problems in the show's first year. The material for the year 1974 is especially extensive and there is a good deal of information for the years 1975, 1979, and 1997-2000.
Note that folders for 1987, 1990, and 1995 (Box 2, Folders 15, 18, and 23) are empty, since no records have yet been received for these years. An addition consisting of a group of scripts for the 1983 Mee-Ow Show, stapled together by sketch, was added to the series in the appropriate year (Box 2, Folder 12).

Abstract
The Mee-ow Show, an annual Northwestern University student-run comedy revue and improvisation show, was created as an alternative to NU's long-running student-produced Waa-Mu Show. The first Mee-ow Show was performed in spring, 1974. The records span the years 1974-2004, with a significant portion of the material from the first show. Records vary from year to year, and may include scripts, programs, audition flyers and forms, budget information, clippings and cast information.
Arrangement
The bulk of the records of Mee-ow are in two groups: scripts, programs, audition flyers and other information; and posters. Each group is arranged in chronological order.
Method of Acquisition
The bulk of the records of the Mee-ow show were donated to the University Archives by Paul Warshauer in 2003-2004 as Accession Number 05-10; material was also added from the Records of the Arts Alliance, Series 31/6/25.
The addition of scripts to the 1983 folder was donated to the University Archives by Emily Bristor on March 5, 2012 (Acc.#12-52).
Separated Materials
A small amount of duplicate and extraneous material was discarded. Photographs were removed and added to the Archives' Photographic Collection. Personal material relating to Paul Warshauer was removed and returned to him.
