The three folders of biographical material are labeled personal data, clippings, and news releases. The personal data consists of biographical sketches, a faculty biographical record, curriculum vitae, and an announcement of honors and awards from the Northwestern University Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences Website. The news releases folder consists of releases of the Northwestern University News Service arranged in chronological order from 1959 to 1982.

Most of the numbered documents fall into a numbering scheme consisting of the two-digit year and a serial number (e.g., 63/12) starting with 51/1 and ending with 87/_. A second numbering scheme starts with the number 4130 in 1956 and ends with 10106 in 1969, and the third numbering scheme starts with 13010 in 1954 and ends with 16684 in 1988. Some serial numbers included several related documents stapled together.

Numbered documents beginning with 51/1 and ending with 87/ are arranged in serial order. These folders contain papers and articles by Rubenstein, various business of the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences, including grant proposals, and student papers. Folder 1/4 contains papers and articles written while Rubenstein was a member of the faculty in the School of Industrial Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Documents numbered from 4130 to 10106 contain documentation from an the First National Bank of Boston Executive Seminar Program in 1956, a note, two transcripts of a panel discussion on Current and Future Trends in Airline Management Development at the Transportation Center at Northwestern University, and a “transcription of an informal seminar with Dr. E. Also included here are minutes from a 1986 meeting of the Faculty of the Technological Institute at Northwestern University.

Two folders of unnumbered documents consist of chronologically arranged material from 1952 to 1966. This material is composed of several research reports and articles. Included here are research reports conducted for the Department of Industrial Engineering at Columbia University and for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and several published articles. Folder 3/5 contains an undated excerpt from a publication on “Field Study Techniques” and “Some Theories of Organization.”
