Scope and Contents
The papers of Robert McClory, spanning the years 1970 to 2014, fill fourteen boxes, including seven oversize boxes. Collection materials are organized by category. Undated materials are sorted alphabetically and dated materials are sorted chronologically.
Biographical materials date between the years 1976 and 2011 and consist of biographical articles, awards, event programs, and a book contract.
McClory’s education materials span the period 1970 to 1971 and contain graded articles McClory wrote to earn his Master’s degree from the Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Correspondence spans the period 1972-2013 and includes incoming correspondence to regarding McClory’s work as a journalist and author.
Teaching files contain material from McClory’s tenure as a professor at the Northwestern Medill School of Journalism. The material spans the years 1983 through 2005. Included are McClory’s undated teaching notes and dated evaluations of his courses by students.
Speeches include notes from lectures given by McClory.
Publications include materials dating between 1972 and 2011. Those materials are further divided intothe following subcategories: notes for articles; drafts of articles; published articles; miscellaneous published materials; correspondence, notes, and drafts relating to books, reviews of McClory’s books; and newspapers containing McClory’s work.

Abstract
Chicago journalist and author Robert (Bob) McClory wrote about race, class, and religion after graduating from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in 1971, where he later taught. His Papers (1970-2014) include biographical materials, teaching notes, research notes, and drafts of articles, as well as many of McClory's published articles from periodicals and newspapers.
