The Records of the National Defender Project span the period 1968 to 1971. The material consists of correspondence, financial records, and reports.

Language of Materials
The two-year (1969-1970) National Defender Project at the Northwestern University Law School was financed by a grant of $36,800 from the National Legal Aid and Defender Association. The project was designed to build on the already well-known program in criminal law for undergraduate and graduate students at the school. The Records of the National Defender consist of correspondence, financial records, and reports.
The records are arranged chronologically.
Method of Acquisition
The Records were separated from Series 17/9 (School of Law Student Records) which was received in the Northwestern University Archives on September 19, 1991. The records were entered as Accession #93-184.
A small amount of duplicate material was discarded.
