Scope and Contents

This series consists of two bound volumes containing the minutes of the Board of Supervision of Student Activities from its inception in 1920 through May 13, 1939. The minutes document discussions and actions of the Board on such matters as recognition of new student organizations, including fraternity and sorority chapters; student publications; elections for student offices; fraternity and sorority initiations and hazing; dances and other social events; and class fights and other instances of disorderly conduct. Beginning in 1937, the minutes also contain occasional correspondence relating to actions of the Board.

Arrangement Note

The minutes are divided into four chronological segments, each of which is preceded by an alphabetical subject index.

Method of Acquisition

These volumes were previously part of the University Archives' general reference files; their original provenance is unknown. Accession #85-156 was assigned at the time of processing.
