The main series in this collection is an extensive number of Recorded Interviews, most of them well-known individuals in the performing arts. Goodman used audiocassettes to record each interview she conducted, as tools for writing the resulting articles.  These taped interviews form the core of the archive.  Most are with Hollywood ‘A’ list stars, as well as with many ‘cult’ figures in American culture, such as Robert Altman, Mel Brooks, Charles Bukowski, Bob Dylan, Terry Gilliam, Paul McCartney, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Not all interviewees have been identified in this series, and in some cases Goodman’s original cassette labels have been transcribed but the contents are not able to be verified.

Another sizeable portion of the collection is made up of Goodman’s Research files and manuscripts.  These materials were compiled by Goodman in the process of writing for various publications.  Often these files contain only newspaper clippings, though some include her notes or drafts of articles.

Photographic materials in the Goodman archive primarily come from press kits she received from motion picture companies advertising upcoming releases.  This series reflects materials which have been removed from their press kits by Goodman herself, whereas the majority of press kits (which have been cataloged separately) retain their photographic materials.

The Miscellaneous documentation series consists of a few draft articles and manuscripts, along with two reel-to-reel tapes and a selection of 20th Century Fox calendars.

Included in the archive is a small collection of Playbills from mostly Broadway shows attended by Goodman, along with some videocassette Trailers for feature films and approximately a dozen Posters for films including Scream, Lion King, Secondhand Lions, and The World According to Garp.
