Clippings on Mrs. Charles W. Townsley from Chicago Herald & Examiner, March 23, 1922; April 10, 1922
Scope and Contents
This small collection consists of plans drawn up by Charles W. Townsley for the reorganization in 1910 of several departments at the Chicago Tribune Company, including the advertising, copy, circulation, promotion, classified and financial advertising departments, the land department and a proposed advisory board. These plans and accompanying letters were sent by Townsley to William H. Field, who in 1910 was business manager of the Tribune.
The letters and plans present a good picture of the advertising department in 1910. In addition the papers are a good source for names of department employees at that time.
