This collection consists of a manuscript of Chicago Tribune: The Rise of a Great American Newspaper (Chicago: Rand McNally, 1979) by Lloyd Wendt; and notes, drafts, other manuscripts, correspondence and other materials related to it, 1974-1980. This collection includes correspondence with Tribune Chief Executive Officer Stanton R. Cook and others about the publication and distribution of the book; the contract with Rand McNally; correspondence with Tribune Company archivists Harold Hutchings (1974-1977) and Lee Major (1978-1980), secretary Ann Stupur, and Rand McNally editors; promotional material; the transcript of a recorded interview with Wendt on the Thomas Todd Show (12/16/1979).
