Testimonials from Tribune readers
Scope and Contents
This collection represents files (chiefly clippings from newspapers and magazines) created by John M. ("Jack") Flynn (Tribune writer; died 1971-12-31) to help him when preparing speeches for Colonel Robert R. McCormick, and for use in rebutting the many attacks being made on the Chicago tribune. When examined by the Tribune Company Archives, they were held to consist of four broad categories: color printing and photography; attacks on the Tribune; freedom of the press; clippings on political, economic, social, military and other matters.
The "freedom of the press" files were sent by the Tribune Company Archives to the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. The collection described here is all that remains of materials in the other three categories.
