From the Collection:

This collection of Chicago Tribune Editorial Department papers consists principally of correspondence and manuscripts related to the content of the editorial pages of the newspaper between 1942 and 1971, though Box 1 contains some materials between 1924 and 1936 with one memo as early as 1914. Box 1 also contains the files of Clifford Raymond (before 1939-1950) and Reuben Cahn's miscellaneous material. Boxes 2 and 3 contain the correspondence and files of Leon Stolz (1942-1963). Box 4 contains the files and correspondence of George Morgenstern (1947-1971).

The captions used are those of the original folders, but sorted into alphabetical order. All of the folders that chiefly contain correspondence have been collected under a single heading

These materials were found next to a box of McCutcheon materials labeled "Personal papers", which were added to XI-127

Processing Information

Box 4, folders 1-3 where part of the processed materials received at Northwestern University from the Tribune Company Archive, but they were not included in the original finding aid. The remaining materials were formerly assigned the temporary identifier XI-435.
