Biographical / Historical
Frances Power Cobbe was an Anglo-Irish author, philosopher, and activist (including for women's suffrage). She was the founder of the animal rights organizations the National Anti-Vivisection Society (1875) and the British Union for the Abolition of Vivisection (1898). She was in a relationship with the Welsh sculptor Mary Lloyd; they lived together from 1864 until Lloyd's death in 1896. She lived from 1822 to 1904.
