Biographical / Historical
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was an American politician (Member of the New York State Senate, 1911 to 1913, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, 1913 to 1920, Governor of New York, 1929-1932) and attorney, who served as President of the United States from 1933 until his sudden passing in 1945 (the only U.S. president who served more than 2 terms). He was responsible for the New Deal (programs, projects, reforms and regulations meant to help the country recover from the Great Depression). In 1921 his legs became permanently paralyzed (then-diagnosed as the result of polio, retrospectively considered to be due to Guillain–Barré syndrome).
