Scope and Contents From the Series: Meyer Levin, a classmate of Leopold at the University of Chicago, wrote a novel and play entitled "Compulsion," which was a partial fictionalization of the Leopold-Loeb murder. Leopold and Gertz sued Levin for violation of privacy, defamation, and profiting from his life story. Included in the suit were the publishers, exhibitors, promoters, and 20th Century Fox for a film production of the same name.
