Scope and Contents
Handwritten note on inside of wood cover reads: "The script a sacred text [sic], to be learned by heart and, repeatedly but inaudibly, quoted to obtain yoga.
A good specimen of the Ola—we may term the Sinhalese script a copy of the "Buddhists Breviary"—laquered [sic] covers (or boards) button & cords. The (prepared) leaves of the Talipot palm. This palm leaf MS was (probably) written about 1600 A.D. in Kandy, Ceylon. Collected by and modern covers made for Dr. Andreas Nell, of Colombo. The leaves should be gently rubbed with camphorated oil every 10 years."
