Scope and Contents
Included in this series are publications, documents, photographs, ephemera, and objects that relate to James A. Conner's medical education, his experiences and those he served alongside as part of the 12th General Hospital Unit, and his career in the pediatrics department of Wesley Memorial Hospital.
The Education and Early Career sub-series includes materials from Conner's time as a student and young doctor. The Army Duties sub-series contains various materials collected during Conner's military service, including maps, rosters, notes, and memos.
The Meeting Minutes sub-series contains minutes from meetings of the 12th General Hospital unit leadership. The Publications and Poetry sub-series includes miscellaneous published materials, some related to the war, and poetry written during the war by Conner. Receipts includes various receipts documenting personal expenses and those related to the 12th General Hospital.
The After the War sub-series includes correspondence and other miscellaneous documents from Conner's life after the war.
The Artifacts sub-series contains all of the Conner collection's objects, most of which relate to Conner's wartime experience. The doctor's bag was used in Conner's practice after the war, and the microscope was likely used for medical school as well as his practice.
