Abstract
Seán O'Faoláin (1900-1991), born John Whelan, won the Femina Prize nomination for Midsummer Night Madness and Other Stories in 1932. His greatest acclaim was as a short story writer and his corpus includes more than a hundred stories, many of which contain accounts of the impact of political turmoil in Ireland.
