Biography
Northwestern University began awarding honorary master's degrees in the 1860s. In 1891 courses leading to advanced earned degrees were offered and the first PhD was awarded in 1896. The Graduate School, however, was not officially established until 1910.

Graduate School Grade Reports
Grade reports for Northwestern University's Graduate School, for the years 1920-1922 and 1924-1949, including some reports for University College (1939-1949) and the Medical School (1932-1938 and 1946-1949). Each grade report contains the following information: department, course title, credits, instructor, semester, quarter, year, names of students, grades, remarks, and the instructor's signature with the date.
