Biography

The Agentzia Press Archive consists of files kept by the editor Jochen Gerz. The collection and guide have been organized by the following categories: correspondence, manuscripts (including typescripts, original graphics, photocollages, photographs, exhibition catalogs), some production materials of the Agentzia Press, and monographs and serials associated with Agentzia authors. Included are such international avant-garde writers of the 1960s and early 1970s as Henri Chopin, Dick Higgins, John Furnival, Alison Knowles, Jurgen Ploog, Ferdinand Kriwet and Wolf Vostell, as well as Jochen Gerz. Many of these artists and writers were associated with the Fluxus movement. These materials were acquired directly from Gerz by the Library in 1973.

Agentzia Press published Annual of the Avant-Garde in 1971 (L709.04/A6152) which profiles the writers of this generation, as well as a series of monographs under the periodical title Agentzia (L Fr Serial). The serialized publications have been analyzed individually. The Special Collections guide to the Fluxus exhibit also provides some background the work of the writers and artists in this collection.
