Biography

Al Lawrence Pastoret was born January 20, 1892 in North Dakota. He studied dentistry at the Northwestern University Dental School until 1918 during which time he served in the N.U. Unit at Base Hospital #12 in Chicago. On September 15, 1918, he was transferred to the medical reserve corps. at Camp Greenleaf in Georgia. He was discharged on December 16 that year.

After his discharge, Pastoret married Jane Pastoret (maiden name unknown) and had two children, James (1924) and Lois Jean (1927). A talented dentist, Pastoret went into private practice in Killdeer, North Dakota from 1920 to 1942. Pastoret rejoined the military in 1943 and was stationed at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. From there he was moved twice (first to the Camp Hord dental clinic in Texas and then to Camp Chaffee in Arkansas) before finally settling in Georgia, where he taught at Emory University and served as a dentist at the Fort Benning station hospital (c. 1954). After he finished his time at Emory, Pastoret retired to Boulder, Colorado and then to Springfield, Missouri (c. 1970). Pastoret passed away October 26, 1976.

Abstract

Al Lawrence Pastoret studied dentistry at the Northwestern University Dental School until 1918 during which time he served in the N.U. Unit at Base Hospital #12 in Chicago. The collection spans one box and includes various notebooks and other materials from A. L. Pastoret’s time in the Northwestern University Dental School.
