Biography

George A. Beauchamp (1912-1992) received his Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Michigan University in 1934. He then worked at Bloomfield Village Elementary School in Birmingham, Michigan, first as a teacher and later as principal. After earning a Master of Education in 1940 at Wayne State University, Beauchamp worked as a communications officer for the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1942 to 1945 and as an administrative officer at the U.S. Veterans Administration in Detroit until 1950. This same year, Beauchamp graduated from the University of Michigan with a Doctorate in Philosophy. He then joined University Elementary School as an associate professor of education and principal until 1952. He transferred to Northwestern University as a professor of education from 1952 until his retirement in the early 1980s.
