  • Scope and Contents

    Over 1,000 items, mainly correspondence to the directors of Ricordi (in chronological order: Giovanni Ricordi, Tito Ricordi, Giulio Ricordi, Tito Ricordi (Giulio's son), Carlo Clausetti, Alfredo Colombo), with some correspondence from and between the directors as well as photographs of the Ricordi and Clausetti families and annual reports written by Clausetti.  The correspondents include composers, librettists, singers, music critics, and nobility from throughout Europe.  Most folders of correspondence contain 1-3 items, some with translations and/or summaries from the dealers; more extensive is the correspondence of Franco Alfano, Gian Francesco Malipiero, Giuseppe Martucci, Italo Montemezzi, Amilcare Ponchielli, Giacomo Puccini, Victorien Sardou, F. Paolo Tosti, and Riccardo Zandonai.
