Description of the addition

Additions to the Dental School student records fill four boxes and span the period 1901-1964, with the bulk of the records dating between 1901 and 1940. The records pertain to graduate students enrolled at the Northwestern University Dental School during this period, and include records of students in the Dental Hygienists and Dental Mechanics programs. Dental hygienists' records date between 1922 and 1952; dental mechanics' records are dated 1922-1923. Records are arranged as follows: graduate students, dental hygienists, and dental mechanics. Within each category, the records are arranged alphabetically by surname. Each file typically contains an application for admission into the Dental School or into specific courses; copies of transcripts from various undergraduate institutions and secondary schools; completed registration forms; receipts for various expenditures on coursework; correspondence; letters of recommendation; and other related materials. A small number of the application forms include a picture of the applicant. The application forms note such information as the names of the applicant's parents, residence, secondary school, and other related information.
