 Series
Identifier: Series 3

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This series is comprised of Dental School student transcripts dating from the graduation years ca. 1930 through 1988. The series fills ten boxes and is organized into three components: transcripts for students pursuing the D.D.S. degree, those of students enrolled in graduate (post D.D.S.–degree) dental studies, and those of students pursuing a diploma, certificate, or degree in dental hygiene. Within these categories transcripts are arranged in folders alphabetically according to students' surnames.

Transcripts for students pursuing the D.D.S. degree form the bulk of the series and date from the period ca. 1941-1987. The transcripts note student's name, home address, name of parent or guardian, date and place of birth, date admitted to dental study, name of high school attended, and a brief summary of undergraduate studies as well as a record of grades achieved in Dental School coursework. Also noted is the date of D.D.S. degree or of withdrawal from Dental School study.

Graduate dental transcripts date from the period ca. 1944-1988 and record student's name, home address, date and place of birth, the names of colleges and dental schools attended, degrees awarded, span dates of graduate dental study, and grades achieved in graduate dental coursework. Transcripts also note the date and type of graduate degree or certificate awarded or the date of withdrawal from graduate study. They often record the date of comprehensive oral examination, the names of the members of the School's examining committee, and the title of graduate thesis.

Dental hygiene transcripts date between 1930 and 1988 and record student's name, home address, date and place of birth, name of parent or guardian, name of high school attended, a brief record of collegiate studies completed, and grades achieved in Dental School courses. The transcripts also note the type and date of diploma, certificate, or degree awarded by the Dental School or the date of withdrawal from dental study.

Completing the series are summaries of time and quarter hour credit distributions requisite for the attainment of the D.D.S. or the diploma, certificate, or degree in dental hygiene along with some sample transcripts pertaining to studies in the dental hygiene program.
