Scope and Contents
The Russell A. Fisher Papers fill seven boxes and span the period 1928-1988. The Papers are organized in six categories: biographical materials, education files, correspondence, teaching files, research files, and publications. Three folders of administrative files from the physics department are also included.
The biographical materials include curricula vitae and annual supplements, and small amounts of clippings, financial records, and news releases.
The education files include lecture notes from courses in Fisher's master's and doctoral programs and a bound carbon-copy of his doctoral dissertation, “Hyperfine Structure in Ionized Bismuth.”
The correspondence deals mainly with research, recommendations, and speaking engagements.
The teaching files contain lecture notes, problems, examination sheets, grade sheets, and some outlines.
The research files consist primarily of notes.
The publications include reprints and a few drafts of articles and entries for encyclopedias.
