Arrangement

Texts of plays written by McGivern plays are listed in alphabetical order by title. If a play was given more than one title over the course of its writing, the titles are given on the same line, in alphabetical order. The original folders have been rearranged into groups, to bring together the materials related to each play. (The names of characters were used to identify the correct placement of some folders; the folder captions do not always reflect their contents.) For each play, the materials are listed in the order encountered as the collection was being processed; no particular weight should be given to this arrangement

Related Materials

Materials in the Notebooks series contain additional sketches and notes about many of the plays

General

Designations of acts and scenes are indicated for many of the items in this series. (Many folders contain pages that may belong to other scenes but are not so identified.) Characters are likewise listed for many of the items; but some minor names may have been missed
