Arrangement

The tapes are arranged in three groups, based on the information available: commercial recordings (either original commercial recordings, or copies of commercially-released recordings); recordings of Carol Lems-Dworkin and her family members; other recordings. Each group is arranged in alphabetical order by the first important word in the caption

General

Captions generally taken as found; information from the containers and tapes combined as appropriate, and abbreviations spelled out. At the time this finding aid was prepared, the tapes had not yet been played. Once the contents of the tapes are known with certainty, some of the descriptions may need to be updated; and some of the recordings in the "other recordings" group may turn out to be copies of commercial recordings. Labels on containers or tapes with texts such as "L 8-9" or "E 25" refer to previous uses of the tapes, and are not recorded here
