Helen Lambert Davy

The Oakley Bruce Davy, Sr., Family Papers are arranged in four major sections: the papers of Oakley Bruce, Sr., and Reuben Roy; Helen Lambert Davy; Oakley Bruce, Jr.; and the financial records of Oakley Bruce, Sr., and Reuben Roy. These are divided into 22 main categories and are housed in 10 boxes containing 31 folders and a great variety of separate items. The bulk of the papers, 5 boxes, consists of financial records (1924-1939) for the dental offices shared by O. B. Davy, Sr., and R. R. Davy in Evanston, Illinois.

Oakley Bruce Davy, Sr., (1893-1990), dentist, and Reuben Roy Davy (1891-1976), also a dentist, were brothers. Helen Lambert Davy, wife of Oakley B. Davy, Sr., was the daughter of Irvin C. Lambert, a salesman. Oakley Bruce Davy, Jr. (1921-1998) was also a dentist.

The papers of Oakley Bruce, Sr., occupy part of Box 1, and are divided into a folder of miscellaneous items and 7 dental school notebooks (1913-17) and personal record books.

The papers of Reuben Roy occupy the remainder of Box 1 and consist of a folder of miscellaneous items and 4 dental school notebooks (1916-17).

The papers of Helen Lambert Davy occupy Boxes 2 and 3. Box 2 contains 5 folders of personal, school, and college materials, and 7 school and college notebooks (1897-1920). One folder contains many letters written to Mrs. Davy from Alpha Delta Phi alumni in the services (1944-1945). Box 3 contains 3 folders of personal and organizational materials related to the sorority Chi Omega (1901-1962) and a large number of recommendation and record cards for candidates and members. Most of these items are for 1961-1962. The use of the material in Box 3 is restricted to those who have permission from the University Archivist.

The papers of Oakley Bruce, Jr., occupy Boxes 4 and 5. Box 4 contains 3 folders of high school and college notes and 5 college notebooks (1937-41). Box 5 contains 2 folders of dental school notes and related materials and 13 college and dental school notebooks (1941-1945).

The Dental Office Financial Records for the offices shared by O. B., Sr., and R. R. Davy occupy Boxes 6-10, and cover the years 1924-1939.
