Joseph Cummings (1817-1890) Papers
Scope and Contents
The Joseph Cummings Papers fill one half-width box and consist of general biographical materials pertaining to Cummings and his wife, genealogical charts, correspondence (from his time as President at Wesleyan and Northwestern), two bound sermons that Cummings gave, and eulogies from his funeral in 1890. The collection spans the years 1854-1967, but the majority of the papers cover the years 1854-1890. Northwestern University also owns an oil portrait of Joseph Cummings that was donated by Wesleyan University in 1967.
