Records of the Northwestern University Settlement Association Records North Shore Junior Board
Scope and Contents
The records in this series are organized alphabetically by subject. All records have been removed from the original three-ringed binders. Boxes 1-4 contain Administrative Notebooks, 1959-1983. These notebooks, maintained by the Board President, include meeting agendas and minutes, correspondence, treasurer's reports, financial records, tax letters, and committee notes.
The Benefit Committee records, 1978-1986 (boxes 5-6) include secretary, treasurer, and chairman reports, meeting agendas and minutes, correspondence, and files relating to publicity and patrons. The Benefit Committee records also include substantial information regarding the Antiques Show and Sale and the benefit dinner, “Guess Who's Cooking the Dinner!” All publications for the benefit dinner were under the charge of the Graphics and Program Committee.
Boxes 8-10 contain the President's Books, 1980-1986. Similar to the Administrative Notebooks, these include guidelines, calendars, meeting minutes, correspondence, officer's reports, and files relating to the Central Committee and the Benefit Committee.
The Publicity records, 1969-1977 (boxes 10-11) contain annual reports, yearbook materials, press releases, and clippings. The 1986 Treasurer's Record Book (box 11) includes income tax returns, reports, minutes, statements of expenses, contribution lists, financial assistance requests, and audit reports.
Description of the Addition (Boxes 12-14): This addition contains records of the North Shore Junior Board, 1942-1988. The records are arranged alphabetically by subject. All records have been removed from the original binding.
The Administrative Records (box 12) include annual reports, tax forms, correspondence, lists of officers and members, and meeting minutes.
Box 13 contains records relating to the purchase of property in Lake Delavan, Wisconsin for use by the House in the Wood Camp. These records include the zone ordinance, lease agreements, sales contracts, correspondence, and the abstract of the title.
The Secretary's files (box 14) include schedules of meetings, membership lists, and officer's reports.

Abstract
This collection consists of 11 boxes organized in 4 series: Administrative Notebooks, 1959-1983; Benefit Committee records, 1978-1986: President's Books, 1980-1986; and Publicity records, 1969-1977. The materials include: meeting agendas and minutes; correspondence; treasurer's reports; financial records; tax letters; committee notes, secretary, treasurer, and chairman reports; meeting agendas and minutes; guidelines; calendars; annual reports; yearbook materials; press releases; clippings; income tax returns; reports; statements of expenses; contribution lists; financial assistance requests; and audit reports.
Arrangement Note
The records' original arrangement, in alphabetical order by subject, was retained, but several large, coherent categories were separated from the General Administrative Files, organized separately, and assigned their own series numbers. See separation record for specific details.
Method of Acquisition
These records were separated from Accession #94-70, donated to the University Archives by the Northwestern University Settlement via Doris Overboe on June 7, 1994. The addition was donated to the University Archives by Ron Manderschied of the Northwestern University Settlement on October 15, 1990 as part of Accession #90-160.
Separated Materials
1.5 cubic feet of duplicate and extraneous materials were discarded. From the addition, three linear inches of duplicate and extraneous materials were discarded.
