Scope and Contents
The Lois Elliot Papers fill two and one-half boxes and consist of biographical material, research files, and files relating to Elliot's activities as a Northwestern faculty member.
The biographical materials include vitae and news releases. The research files, which form the bulk of the series, are primarily composed of records relating to the grant-funded projects that Elliot administered. They include grant proposals, budget reports, correspondence, and notifications of grant awards.
Box Three contains files on a variety of topics unconnected with Elliot's major research projects, including a study on speech discrimination in children, materials pertaining to the Human Communication Sciences Program at Northwestern, and correspondence. The final folder holds reports, articles, and chapters of books written by Elliot.

Abstract
Lois Elliot joined the Northwestern University School of Speech as Professor of Communicative Disorders in 1976. She directed the Neurobiology Training Program between 1976 and 1984 and headed the Program in Audiology and Hearing Sciences from 1976 to 1995. Elliott also helped design and coordinate the curriculum for the Human Communication Sciences, a premedical, undergraduate program. The Lois Elliot Papers fill two and one-half boxes and consist of biographical material, research files, and files relating to Elliot's activities as a Northwestern faculty member. The research files, which form the bulk of the series, are primarily composed of records relating to the grant-funded projects that Elliot administered. They include grant proposals, budget reports, correspondence, and notifications of grant awards.
Arrangement
Research files are listed by project name, but are arranged chronologically.
Method of Acquisition
This series is made up of papers donated to the University Archives by Lois Elliot on July 7, 1992 as Accession Number 92-81 and on August 8, 1995 as Accession Number 95-139, with the addition of materials from the University Archives' faculty biographical files.
Separated Materials
Six inches of duplicate and extraneous materials, and one box of slides, were discarded.
