The book documents (with signatures) 77 transfers of stock, beginning with the transfer of 60 shares from C.H. Ray to Alfred Cowles on September 1, 1861, and ending with the transfer of 1,050 shares from the Medill trustees to themselves on February 21, 1910 (when Katharine McCormick took the place of her husband, Robert S. McCormick, who had resigned)
