Abstract
Correspondence, speeches, writings, clippings and other material from, to or about Clayton Kirkpatrick (editor of the Chicago tribune, 1915-2004). Of particular note are the speeches and editorials, which give Kirkpatrick's views on politics (including the Watergate affair), journalism, and the freedom of the press.
Arrangement
At the time of processing, the materials were already arranged into a number of broad categories: correspondence; organizations; travel; Cantigny golf course; speeches and writings. These broad categories have been retained, although some items were moved from their original location to another, to achieve a greater consistency. Arrangement within some categories is alphabetically by sub-category, in others it is by date. Some alphabetically-arranged sub-categories are further arranged by date; many of these folders include undated materials.
