Content Description

Two notebooks of lecture notes kept by John Minton Mitchell, MD, alumnus (1916) and instructor in pediatrics, for William A. Locy's zoology course at Northwestern University (1911-12) and Isaac A. Abt's pediatrics course at Northwestern University Medical School (1915-16). Also includes an undated letter to Mitchell from "Sarah" (most likely Mitchell's sister), written on paper with letterhead of Dr. H. C. Mitchell (John Mitchell's father), Carbondale, Illinois, as well as a page of biographical information about John Mitchell written by his niece Jean Montague Massengale, who is also the donor of the collection.

Gift of Jean Montague Massengale, niece of John M. Mitchell, December 1969.

Condition Description

Notebook with Abt lecture notes is in poor condition with detached, deteriorating soft leather covers and red rot. The rest of the collection has expected wear from age and is in generally fair condition.
