New Music Chicago was an organization consisting of composers, musicians, and supporters created to promote new music. The group was founded in August 1982 out of the nomadic American music festival New Music America. New Music Chicago is believed to have been active from 1982 until 1988, based upon the dates of extant materials found in the collection.
